Meet the Founder of Tribal Music Group, Stan Wittenberg
Since crossing over into the mainstream in the late 2010s, trap music has become increasingly popular. We have seen more people embrace trap and even new artists join the space. But it is impossible to talk about the growth of trap music without mentioning Stan Wittenberg. Stan is one of the creators who helped push trap into the limelight. Stan is the founder of a leading social media agency and music label, Tribal Music Group.
He is also the brains behind Tribal Trap, the biggest brand under the Tribal Music Group umbrella. Tribal Music Group contains different brands and entities. The group has been leveraging social media to help young and established artists grow their brands as they bring new music to the trap community. Tribal Music Group has various YouTube, Instagram, and Spotify accounts. They have the Tribal trap YouTube channel with over 800K subscribers.
There is also BassBoosterz with 3M subscribers, Trap Music Movement with 272K subscribers, and Night Drive with over 380K subscribers. The group has built itself even on Instagram. Tribal Music Group has a collective of Instagram accounts like Supraschool with 300K followers, supra_mk4_club (192K), litrover (114K), and Crazycarzon (315K).
Stan is using these platforms to help other artists grow as he changes how the world views trap music. According to the 24-year-old, his goal is to create a space where artists can freely promote their music and be confident that it will reach the right audience.
As a young person in business, Stan is equally using his brand to share his story and encourage the youth. Stan started his journey in the industry when he was 15 years old. He didn’t know much about the music industry, and many people looked down on him because of his young age.
At the time, streaming platforms like Spotify and Soundcloud were not as popular as they are today, making it harder for people to buy into Stan’s idea. While it was challenging, Stan didn’t give up. He overcame this by working tirelessly and not being afraid of making mistakes. Instead of waiting and listening to others, Stan began working on Tribal Trap as a curational YouTube channel. Stan would upload music from third-party artists to share with his growing fan base, who came to hear new trap.
His distinctive approach to music promotion and trap as a whole saw him grow his brand, with artists signing to Tribal Trap for exclusive premiers or even releases. Today, Tribal Music Group and Tribal Trap are leaders in the entertainment industry. They have a network of over 7M followers, leveraging them to change the music market. Stan’s efforts in the field have not gone unnoticed, as his work has received multiple awards. Tribal Music Group was ranked as one of the top 10 upcoming record labels by EDM.com, with an 890% growth rate in Russia (2019). The brand has also been recognized by global leaders such as Elon Musk. In Dec 2021, Elon Musk jokingly tweeted one of their trap mixes to Jack Dorsey.
When Stan Wittenberg started his career, many didn’t believe in him. He was young with zero experience or resources. He began Tribal Trap as a small bedroom record label. He is now the founder of two top music labels that have contributed to the music genre’s growth. Tribal Music Group has featured its music in campaigns by Google, Puma, League of Legends, Ubisoft, So You Think You Can Dance, Les Mills, and more.
