Alex Manos and His Beverly Hills Car Club Are Rewriting the Classic Car Market
Cars have evolved drastically in every decade with better mechanics and powerful engines, but vintage or classical cars still hold a place of their own. Classic cars compete at a different level. It is not about speed, efficiency, or style but more about exclusivity and craftsmanship as a physical token from history. Alex Manos, the owner and founder of Beverly Hills Car Club, realized this more than a decade ago to become a reputed name in the classic cars industry in America. Beverly Hills Car Club is a leading dealer of top vintage and classic vehicles, with a huge inventory of classic cars for sale and an impressive clientele including many Hollywood celebrities.
It all started in 2008. Alex Manos decided to turn his passion for classic cars into a living and within 15 years, scaled up the business to a whole new level. Alex, now 40, inherited his love for vintage cars from his parents who owned classic Jaguar and Volvo models. He bought his first classic car in the early 2000s from a Lincoln Mercury service manager. It was a 1962 Lincoln Continental Sedan with suicide doors. The car had sound mechanics but needed some bodywork, which Alex did himself. After upgrading the vehicle, it became the talk of the town with buyers pouring in.
Eventually, Alex sold it to buy another Lincoln Continental, a black 1961 convertible. He invested 8 months in restoring it and sold it the day he first drove it off. This experience was a huge motivation to turn his love for classic cars into a business. For Alex, classic cars are not just vehicles but a work of art. He gets an adrenaline rush looking at a photo of a vintage car and can’t get over the smooth lines, incredible design, and formidable craftsmanship of European and American classic cars.
The business that started with two parking spots in Alex’s apartment now has a sprawling 135,000-square-foot showroom in downtown Los Angeles. The showroom houses more than 450 cars at any given time ranging from $5000 Mustangs to million-dollar Ferraris, but also classics from car makers like Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini, Maserati, and more. Growing a business to this level from scratch in less than 15 years was a challenge for Alex. It is the result of relentless hard work and endless sacrifices. He had to work 24/7 for years and even missed several family events like birthdays and vacations to focus on Beverly Hills Car Club. All that paid off as Beverly Hills Car Club now boasts a long list of clients including Justin Bieber, Tyler, Jason Momoa, Kevin Dillon, and many more.
From a 1929 Rolls-Royce to a 1983 Ferrari, Beverly Hills Car Club has a vast and impressive collection for every classic car enthusiast. Besides selling classic cars, Beverly Hills Car Club also buys vintage autos, in any condition. Alex Manos has bought more than 14,000 classic cars so far in the US and sold all of them globally except for a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, his personal favorite. Alex Manos buys all types of cars from Pebble Beach show winners to rare hidden away gems that have been stored away sitting in barns and garages for decades and even a Ferrari that have been pulled from a lake.
Alex Manos wants to pass on his knowledge of classic cars to future generations with the Beverly Hills Car Club. He feels that car lovers of every age should know and appreciate the beautiful, hand-made masterpieces of engineering ingenuity built decades ago.
